NSCN-K leader Isak Sumi said that ‘NSCN Naga Army-led UNLFW demolition trainees’ carried out the IED blasts as part of their ‘practical course’, near the Akheg-wo area bordering Myanmar.
According to security sources, two improvised explosive devices went off near a bridge in between Ngoromi and Akhegwo. It was reported that the incident took place when the Assam Rifles Road Opening Party (ROP) team was on duty to clear the way for their convoy.
It is to be mentioned that during the attack, an Assam Rifles jawan was injured at Kiphire yesterday. The insurgents who carried out the IED blasts also fired at the Assam Rifles men during the attack.
