The NSCN-IM has made a significant statement saying that the Naga peace talks currently going on between the group and Government of India would be futile unless the issue of integration of all Naga areas into a common unit is resolved.
In a statement, the NSCN-IM maintained that it would not ‘remain mute spectators against any divisive forces within or without who tries to betray the Naga cause their history.’ The NSCN-IM further stated it would not compromise under any circumstances.
The NSCN-IM also criticised Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for allegedly saying after a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi last month that integration of all Naga-inhibited areas around Nagaland is impossible.
Mr. Rio had, had however, clarified that he had touched upon what was conveyed to the Nagaland government delegation at the meeting.
The NSCN-IM’s key demand to integrate Naga-inhabited areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur has been strongly opposed by the three BJP-ruled states.
