NPP delegation meets HM Amit Shah, appeals for restoration of peace in Manipur

In a significant development, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from the National People’s Party (NPP) of Meghalaya and Manipur, led by Agatha Sangma held a crucial meeting with the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah on Friday and appelaed for immediate, effective, and impactful measures to restore normalcy and peace in Manipur. They emphasized the need for providing adequate relief and rehabilitation materials to ensure the safety and livelihood of those adversely affected by the ongoing crisis in the state.
In response, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured the delegation that the government is determined to provide sustainable solutions to the ongoing conflict in Manipur. This assurance comes as a glimmer of hope for the people of the state who have been enduring hardships due to the prevailing situation.
The delegation comprised of Dr. Wanweiroy Kharlukhi, Member of Rajya Sabha from Meghalaya, and NPP MLAs M. Rameshwar Singh and Sheikh Nurool Hassan from Manipur, presented their concerns and resolutions regarding the current crisis in Manipur.
The meeting was endorsed by Conrad Sangma, National President of the National People’s Party and Chief Minister of Meghalaya. The resolution was also signed by NPP MLAs from Manipur, along with Preston Tensong, National Vice President and Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, and James Sangma, National General Secretary of NPP. This united statement of intent was submitted to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The meeting concluded with a sense of optimism as both sides displayed a willingness to collaborate and find solutions to restore peace and tranquillity in Manipur, and thereby pave the way for progress and prosperity in the region.
