North East Linguistic and Ethnic Coordination Committee submits memorandum to Assam CM

A team of the North East Linguistic and Ethnic Coordination Committee Assam met Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal day at the Administrative Staff College in Guwahati in the presence of Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy and MLA Dilip Paul.

During the meeting, the NELECC delegation submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding the government’s intervention to ensure that linguistic minorities are not further harassed, intimidated or coerced under the pretext of NRC update which will be published on 31st August.

Sarbananda Sonowal assured them that no citizens will be harassed if his or her name does not appear in the final NRC list and he said that protection to the persecuted religious minorities will be given as per law.

The team of NELECC comprised of Vivek Podder, Subhranshu Shekhar Bhattacharya, Mr. Kankan Narayan Sikidar, Advocate Ratnangkoor Bhattacharjee, Joydeep Dutta, Angshuman Bhattacharjee, Ashish Halder, Abhijit Nath, Abhrajit Chakraborty and Jishnu Sinha.
