Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of the #JewarInternationalAirport to be built in Jewar in Delhi NCR.

The #jewarairport with one of the best modern infrastructures will be the largest airport in India after its completion.

With the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh will become the only state in India to have five international airports.

Speaking on the occasion Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Jewar International Airport will become the logistics gateway of northern India.

The International Airport is located at a distance of about 72 km from the IGI airport in New Delhi which is spread over more than 1,300 hectares of land. PM Modi added that the new airport will play a major role in the growing aviation sector of India and will be a key centre of maintenance, repair and operations of aircraft.

“The new airport will also give employment to thousands of people of western Uttar Pradesh,” he further added.

The airport’s first phase is being built at a cost of more than Rs 10,050 crore is expected to be finished by 2024. The airport will have the capacity to cater to 2 million passengers per year.

Depending on passenger growth and traffic, the airport will expand to serve 70 million passengers by the end of phase 4.
