In a major boost to road infra in the state of Manipur, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the bridge over the Makru river next month.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed that Gadkari will visit the state on July 2nd when the project will be inaugurated.

The bridge is located along the 222 km Imphal-Jiribam NH 37. The Imphal-Jiribam road is the lifeline of Manipur that connects it to other states.

The foundation for the bridge was laid by CM Biren Singh back in the year 2017 and the project was supposed to be completed by 2019. However, the project was delayed due to security issues.

The construction work for the 154 meter high double-lane iron and concrete bridge was undertaken by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL).
