The joint statement, signed by Ministers K.G. Kenye and Temjen Imna Along, expressed gratitude to the electorate for their support in the recent ULB polls

The NDPP-BJP alliance in Nagaland is intact. This was stated by both the political parties which are in an alliance in the state through a statement issues on Monday.

The statement comes after reports emerged that there was a growing difference between the parties following the outcome of the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

Thus, in an apparent move to quell speculations of infighting and division within the PDA coalition, the NDPP and BJP have issued a joint statement, reaffirming their strong alliance and commitment to serve the people of the state.

The joint statement signed by Ministers K.G. Kenye and Temjen Imna Along, clarified that the alliance remains strong, despite the loss of their joint candidate in the Lok Sabha elections. The coalition accepted the people’s mandate with humility and respect.

“The NDPP-BJP PDA coalition is issuing this joint statement to also give the accurate information on the alliance and the unity of the PDA. Much has been said and reported on various media platforms and there is a lot of misinformation and speculation on the PDA; therefore, it is pertinent to issue this clarification.
The alliance between the NDPP and the BJP is as strong as ever and the PDA Government is functioning smoothly. The alliance contested the Lok Sabha elections with a joint PDA candidate but unfortunately for the alliance, our candidate lost the elections, the results of which has been positively accepted by us with humility as we have the utmost respect towards the mandate of the people. This was immediately followed by the elections to the ULBs across all urban towns except in the eastern region,” the joint statement read.

The NDPP and BJP contested the ULB elections with local understanding, with friendly contests in certain areas. However, the coalition assured that this did not impact their joint teamwork and commitment to serving the people of Nagaland.

Further, both the parties also maintained that it will work collectively for the larger good of the people and said, “The positive spirit of the alliance will continue to be upheld even in the formation of the ULBs across the state with an inclusive approach wherein both the parties will work collectively with team spirit and unity. We are more motivated and encouraged to make more dedicated efforts towards serving the people of Nagaland in an inclusive and just manner. We appeal to all sections to strengthen unity and oneness as we remain committed to serve every citizen of Nagaland.”

The joint statement also expressed gratitude to the electorate for their overwhelming support in the recent Urban Local Bodies elections.
