The Assam government has directed the state DGP to immediately suspend sub-inspector Pradeep Bania for his alleged involvement in the firing incident in Nagaon.
It may be recalled that on January 22, former student leader Kirti Kamal Bora was shot after he allegedly attacked a police team which was probing a narcotics drugs case.
The Assam government had constituted a one-man inquiry committee comprising additional chief secretary Pawan Borthakur to probe the incident.
As such, based on the recommendations of the inquiry committee, the state government also directed the DGP to transfer all members of the anti-narcotic squad, Nagaon, other than SP Anand Mishra, out of Nagaon district immediately.
