Nagaland Police recovers drugs worth over Rs 20 crore, arrest 157 persons in last 3 months

The Nagaland Police’s relentless effort to make the state drug-free has yielded remarkable success. In the last 3 months, the State Police have recovered drugs worth over Rs 20 crore, arrested 157 individuals and registered 133 cases in connection with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Ganja weighing 139.503 kilograms, Opium 28.853 kilograms, Heroin 5.164 kilograms, Brown Sugar 1.145 kilograms, 5,750 Yaba tablets, Other Synthetic Drugs 20,116 units, and Cough Syrup 2,446 bottles are among the contraband that was recovered by the Police.
The combined value of the seized contraband is estimated at over Rs 20 crore.
Various units of Nagaland Police are actively involved in initiatives and awareness campaigns targeted at reducing the demand for drugs both inside their individual units and across the state, said Police in a statement.
In order to uphold its commitment to having a drug-free workplace, Nagaland Police has taken measures to track down and offer options for detoxification and rehabilitation to staff members who have been found to be drug users.
It also issued a stern warning to personnel who abscond or remain absent from rehabilitation centers, indicating that disciplinary action will be taken against individuals who default on the rehabilitation process.
