In the aftermath of the heavy destruction’s to life and property due to massive landslides triggered by incessant rains for the past few weeks in Nagaland.
The State Government has written to the Centre seeking immediate assistance from the Central Government and its various agencies including the Army, Para Military and the National Disaster Response Force to assist the State machineries in coping with the challenges caused by the heavy rains.
The Nagaland Government has also sought Air Force’s assistance in lifting and dropping of commodities to the far flung districts cut off by the landslides.
Nagaland Home Commissioner R Ramakrishnan further informed that the state capital Kohima along with most of the districts particularly Phek, Kiphire and Tuensang have been cut off for the past two days due to numerous landslides triggered by incessant rains.
He also informed that so far six persons have been washed away in the floods and many have been evacuated from the damaged areas.
