The Nagaland Assembly on Tuesday appealed the Government of India and the Naga political groups to resume peace talks with a positive approach and mutual respect without any pre-conditions.
The House also appealed to Naga political groups to make serious efforts towards unity and reconciliation and avoid constant antagonism against each other.
Earlier, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that the Naga society including the Naga political group was badly divided.
As many as 12 groups were collecting taxes and indulging in various activities. Even the over ground groups were divided, he said.
Rio expressed happiness over the Opposition NPF decision for an opposition less government in the state. They said consultation with the BJP was going on in this regard.
Meanwhile, Rio said that the NSCN-IM framework agreement and agreed position of NNPGs are similar, therefore they have been appealing to them to sort out their differences.
Besides, the Nagaland Chief Minister while stating that talks concluded on October 31 2019, maintained that there are some contentious issues and competencies which are not agreeable like integration, flag and constitution.
However, in a significant statement Rio quoting the Centre said that these issues can be pursued later. Besides, the Chief Minister also urged all the stakeholders should come together to give the final push.
