The Government of India has set October 31 deadline to conclude the Naga Peace Talks.
This was informed by Nagaland Governor and interlocutor to Naga Peace Talks RN Ravi in the consultative meeting held in Kohima on Friday with the primary stakeholders, tribal hohos, church leaders and all the minority Non-Naga Tribes and the civil society organisations.
The attendees of the meeting also informed Northeast Live that yesterday’s consultative meeting might be the last consultative meeting before the signing of the peace accord.
RN Ravi has ruled out any possibility of separate flag and constitution as per the stand of the Government of India.
He informed the attendees of the meeting that both the issues can be taken up post solution through a democratic process.
RN Ravi has further accused the NSCN-IM of adopting a procrastinating attitude to delay the peace process. He said that the NSCN-IM has raised the contentious symbolic issues of separate Naga national flag and Constitution despite being aware of the Centre’s stand on the matter.
The Naga Peace interlocutor also stated that the NSCN-IM has mischievously dragged in the Framework Agreement and began imputing imaginary contents into it.
Meanwhile, Northeast Live tried to catch up with the NSCN-IM leadership. However, the group is yet to respond.
