In a big political statement ahead of the 2026 assembly election, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that the Islam society in the state has clearly understood the development agenda of the BJP. Referring to the Samaguri by-poll results, Chief Minister Sarma said that the Muslim population understands that the BJP is with those who seek welfare of the society. The Assam Chief Minister further mentioned that the BJP government is only against entities such as fake journalists, drugs smugglers, land grabbers, those involved in love jihad.
