Meghalaya TMC Legislature Party leader and former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has said that the move of the 5 Congress MLAs to extend support to the MDA government did not come as a surprise at all.
Taking a dig at MPCC president Vincent Pala, Sangma said that background parleys were on with the NPP since the time Pala took over as Pradesh Congress Committee chief.
Sangma alleged that the NPP was trying to exploit the situation and the disharmony in the Congress was quite visible.

Earlier, in an unprecedented move, the five MLAs of Congress have decided to support the NPP-led MDA government. The five Congress MLAs today met with Chief Minsiter Conrad Sangma and pledged their support to the MDA government.
Ampareen Lyngdoh, P.T. Sawkmie, Mayralborn Syiem, Kimfa S Marbaniang, and Mohendra Rapsang are the five Congress MLAs.
The decision to join the MDA government has been confirmed by Congress MLA and CLP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh.
In the letter to the CM, the Congress leaders stated that the decision has been taken to strengthen the government’s arms and decision making so as to ensure that joint efforts can be made to take the state forward.
