Mizoram has registered 5 more COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday, taking the overall tally in the state to 93.
Out of 669 samples were tested since June 8, 5 more positive cases (one each from Aizawl, Lawngtlai, Serchhip, and 2 from Saitual) were detected. The patients, 1 male and 4 females are aged between 18-37.
In a span of 48 hours, a total of 51 positive cases have been detected in the state, with 92 active cases.
DIPR Mizoram informed on Twitter, “From 669 samples tested since 8th June, 5 more positive cases(Aizawl-1, Lawngtlai-1, Serchhip-1, Saitual-2) between ages 18-37, 1 Male, 4 Females confirmed last night. Total cases detected in two days is 51, Cumulative active cases as of now is 92.”
Meanwhile, Mizoram has announced a complete lockdown in the state that came into effect on June 2 to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The move, that was announced after a consultative meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Zoramthanga, comes as other states opened malls, restaurants and places of worship after two months as part of the centre’s ‘Unlock-1’ guidelines, expected to return life to normal in a ‘phased’ manner.
