At a time, when the Congress is engaged in a hectic election campaign for the upcoming Mizoram Assembly elections, promising LPG cylinders at Rs 750, old pension of Rs 2,000 per month, and other welfare measures, BJP’s state unit has slammed the grand old party for playing “Vote Bank” politics and advised it to work for the welfare of the people.
Amid Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the poll-bound state, spokesperson of BJP Mizoram Unitech , Lalremsangi Fanai today accused the Congress of misleading the public by playing religious card at the time of elections.
Fanai said that there is no threat to Mizo’s religious belief and faith in the State.
Attacking the Congress, Lalremsangi Fanai listed out the achievements of the NDA Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
She said that India has the most robust health care system in the world and added that the COVID vaccine was able to save millions of lives and finally overcome the pandemic.
Fanai said that BJP is committed as always to work for the welfare of the people and has transformed the country and leads the nation to the path of development.
On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence that the party would be forming the next Government in Mizoram.
Interacting with media persons in Aizawl today, he said that the Congress is developing a new vision for the hill state. He said that the Congress is focusing on economic empowerment of all sections of the people of the state.
The Congress leader said that the party is coming up with a scheme called “Tangpuihna” – which is a financial inclusion initiative for the people.
Gandhi also emphasized on creating more jobs for the youth. On the social security front, he said that the party will introduce old-age pension scheme of Rs 2000 per month and a subsidized LPG cylinder of Rs. 750 per month if voted back to power.
Campaigning is picking up in all parts of the state. With elections just a few weeks away, political parties such as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress, the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and others are putting all efforts to reach out to voters.
Mizoram will go to polls on November 7, 2023 to elect 40 members of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly. The counting of votes will take place on December 3.
