Mizoram Open Football Championship kicks off in Serchhip district

Over 170 players representing different clubs from four districts Champhai, Aizawl, Serchhip and Lawngtlai have registered themselves for participation in the event

The Mizoram Open Football Championship kicked off today at the Serchhip District Sports Complex.
The event was inaugurated by Assam Rifles along with Serchipp District Football Association and is a part of the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme.
The opening ceremony by attended by Lieutenant Colonel Varun Trisal of 42 Assam Rifles, who motivated the budding players of Mizoram and also congratulated Serchipp District Football Association for the initiative undertaken by them in organising the event.

Over 170 players representing different clubs from four districts Champhai, Aizawl, Serchhip and Lawngtlai have registered themselves for participation in the event.
The winners of the tournament will receive a cash award of Rs 1,50,000 with the runners-up getting Rs 1,00,000. Apart from that the best players will get an opportunity to participate in the “Assam Rifles Sentinels Tournament” organized by the Director General of Assam Rifles and will also get the opportunity to get noticed by the premier football clubs of India.

The championship is being organised to promote sports as a viable career choice and to nurture the hidden sporting talents of the youngsters of the region.
