The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee Disciplinary Action Committee has served a show cause notice to party leader and state home minister R Lalzirliana.
Lalzirliana has been asked to explain his position in the wake of remarks made by him that the opposition MNF has approached him to join its ranks.
The Congress disciplinary committee has been given the Home Minister time till 3 pm tomorrow to explain his position and reply to the queries of the party failing which strict disciplinary action will be taken against him.
According to sources, one reason that might have upset Lalzirliana could be the fact that despite assurances from the Congress top brass including Rahul Gandhi.
The Satual division of Aizawl district, which falls under his constituency is yet to be given district status. He was given the assurance way back in 2008.
The development significantly comes barely a couple of months ahead of the crucial assembly polls in Mizoram.
