The Mizoram Liquor Vendors Association and three bonded warehouse dealers jointly filed a petition on Thursday at the Aizawl bench of the Guwahati High Court for the losses incurred due to the extension of dry day by the state government.
The Mizoram Liquor Vendors Association is an umbrella body of all retailed liquor vendors of the state.
President of the Mizoram Liquor Vendors Association, Francis Sailo said that the long spell of dry day, which is announced by the government, was unfair for the people who are involved in liquor business.
He also said that over 300 youths will lose their jobs if the alcohol prohibition is imposed in the state for an extended period.
Sailo further added that the High Court has fixed the hearing on the extension of dry day till Tuesday that is 22nd January.
