Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Friday participated in a mega river cleaning programme at the Tuikual Lui stream, a tributary of the Tlawng River.
The mega cleaning drive was jointly organized by Save the Riparian Group and the NSS Cell of Mizoram’s Sports & Youth Service.
Addressing the programme, CM Lalduhoma stated that he had frequently walked along the Tlawng River in the past and observed its pollution due to waste from Aizawl city. He praised the efforts of Save the Riparian group for their initiative of cleaning the river and its tributaries.
Taking to X, the Chief Minister wrote, “Participated in the “Mega River Cleaning Programme” organised by Save the Riparian Movement.”
Express displeasure over the pollution in the river, CM Lalduhoma wrote, “It’s heartbreaking to witness the careless waste disposal polluting our rivers. Let’s take action to protect and restore these vital waterways! #SaveTheRivers #EnvironmentalAwareness”

The initiative taken by Save the Riparian group has prompted both the government and the Chief Minister to take action and personally join their drive today. The Chief Minister also donated an amount of Rs 2 lakh last month.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services.
