ECI has initiated the process of verifying voter registration status and issuing voter's slips
With the 2023 assembly elections in Mizoram just months away, it’s time for citizens to ensure their voter registration and get ready to cast their votes. The Election Commission of India has initiated the process of verifying voter registration status and issuing voter’s slips, making it easy for eligible voters to participate in this crucial democratic exercise.
Here’s a simple guide to obtaining your voter slip:
STEP 1: Visit the Voters’ Service Portal (VSP) official website- https://voters.eci.gov.in/
STEP 2: Click on the “Search in Electoral Roll” option
You will be given 3 options to verify yourself.
a. First Option: Search by Details:
i. First select your state and language
ii. Enter your personal details like: Name, Relative Name, Date of Birth, Age and Gender
iii. Enter your location details: District, and assembly constituency.
iv. Add the captcha code and search
b. Second Option: Search by EPIC Number (voter ID card number):
i. Select Language
ii. Enter your EPIC number (voter ID card number) and your state.
iii. Add the captcha code and search
c. Third Option: Search by Mobile
i. Enter your state and select the language
ii. Enter the Mobile number (An otp will be provided to you)
iii. Verify the OTP
iii. Add the captcha code and search
Upon entering these details, the website will provide you with your voter information based on the provided criteria.
If your name does not appear on the voter list, you will receive a ‘no record found’ response.
In terms of constituencies and parties in Mizoram:
- Mizoram has a total of 40 constituencies.
- In the 2018 elections, the MNF party secured 27 seats, making them the dominant party.
- The main opposition party, Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), won 6 seats.
- Congress managed to secure 5 seats.
- The BJP could only secure 1 seat.
