The accused has been identified as Bukyang Yirang of Ngopok village in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, who was arrested by the police yesterday for allegedly raping the 7-year-old girl on Tuesday.

Police said that the accused committed the crime while the girl was alone at her home watching television while her parents were out working. Following the incident, the victim’s father lodged an FIR based upon the revelations made by his daughter.

A case was registered at the Pasighat police station under section 376 of the IPC. East Siang SP Prashant Gautam informed that the accused confessed to the crime.
