While the Bharatiya Janata Party is going all gaga about its initiative in the health sector by launching the Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme and Union Minister of Road, Transport Water Resources claiming that a lot has been done in improving connectivity in the North East region, the opposition congress in Meghalaya are of the opinion that it is nothing new but an old wine in a new bottle.

Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee, president Celestine Lyngdoh alleged that for four and half years BJP did not do anything and just three four months before the Lok Sabha elections they are coming up with new projects and schemes, terming it to be political games of the BJP.

Stating that the Ayushman Health Insurance Scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is nothing new, Lyngdoh said that Meghalaya has been implementing Mega Health Insurance Scheme, phase I,II,III and how much will they cover with the Ayushman scheme is yet to be seen as there are around five states that have refused to take that scheme.

Reacting to the statement of Union Minister of Road, Transport and Waterways Nitin Gadkari that much has been done and will be done in improving roadways and waterways in the region, the MPCC chief said that even before BJP came to power the four laning from Jorabat to Umiam was completed. He also pointed out that the Shillong-Nongstoin-Tura road was done by the congress and inaugurated by PM Modi.
