The total number of COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya rose to 36 after three more persons tested positive for the virus on Sunday.
Of the three, 2 new patients had returned from Maharashtra and one from Tamil Nadu. All 3 patients have been placed under institutional quarantine in East Khasi Hills district, chief minister Conrad Sangma informed in a series of tweets.
“Two more residents who came from Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have tested positive for COVID19. Both of them under quarantine in East Khasi Hills District.” Conrad Sangma tweeted.
(Total Positive Cases: 36, Total Active Cases: 22, Total Recovered: 13, Total Deceased: 1)
As per reports, 13,509 stranded Meghalaya residents have returned to the state so far.
The number of active cases in the state now stands at 22, while 13 persons have recovered and 1 dead.
The state recorded its first COVID-19 case on April 13 after a 69-year-old doctor, with no travel history, tested positive for coronavirus.
The doctor died of the disease while eight members of his family, three domestic help and one of his friends had also tested positive for COVID-19, health officials said, adding they have recovered.
All remaining COVID-19 infections in the state were among the people who had returned to the state from other parts of the country.
