Sangma said that the party has already finalised the candidate for Tura seat and talks are on to finalise the candidate for the Shillong seat.

However, most of the constituent parties in INDIA bloc have decided to go solo in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. “From our side, we have always maintained that we would fight one seat, and let the other one be fought by other parties. Let there be some effort to put that collective endeavour, since we share the common objective of taking on the current dispensation, “ he added.
Mukul Sangma said, “Things would be final in couple of days. we will announce the candidate for Tura seat by tomorrow or latest by Monday.”

The opposition Voice of People’s Party (VPP) has announced general secretary Ricky AJ Syngkon’s name for Shillong seat.
The Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) comprising the United Democratic Party (UDP) and Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) have fielded former Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) president Robertjune Kharjahrin for Shillong seat.
