With just a few days left for the Meghalaya Assembly elections, an incident of alleged pre-poll violence has come to the fore. In a shocking incident, a supporter of National People’s Party candidate Mohendro Rapsang was attacked on Friday night.
Reportedly, the attack took place after Rapsang held a meeting at Narsingh Akhra for garnering support for the upcoming Assembly poll. One of Rapsang’s supporters who was attacked said that some persons attacked him at Kamber Clinic when he had gone to fetch his bike after the meeting.
Notably, the police have arrested two persons in connection with the attack and an investigation has been launched to unearth more details behind the attack.
NPP’s Mohendro Rapsang is contesting from West Shillong. His opponents include UDP’s Paul Lyngdoh and BJP Meghalaya president Ernest Mawrie.
