The National People’s Party (NPP) working president and PHE Minister, Marcuise Marak on Wednesday rejected corruption claims against the government on the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission project.
Minister Marak said, “The Jal Jeevan mission was carried out in a transparent manner and I totally don’t agree with kind of corruption charges.”
“Once the work was finished, the bill was not paid right away because a third party needed to make an inquiry. The third party had to complete his inquiry and verify that the work was finished, then only the payment procedure is done. So, therefore there is no chance for corruptions”, Marak added.
“Even though, I will look into the matter of the nature of allegations but most of the work are still ongoing specially in West Garo hills”, Marak said.
Minister also claimed that political maneuvering is going on ahead of Lok Sabha polls, saying, “Now the MP elections are coming, this is all politically planned and then just before elections they have to make this kind of statements so that people will believe them and say that Ahh! govt is not doing anything.”
“JJM implementation is extremely clear and payments are also transparent and before payments works are also monitored thoroughly because even after completions of projects we have to geotag those projects, sources and therefore there is no chance to lie to the people”, he stated.
He further added that JJM can be accessed through a dashboard, which is created by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, government of India and everyone can view it.
Jal Jivan Mission was launched by the Prime Minister Modi on August 15, 2019 as a flagship program of the government to provide Functional Household Tap Connection to every rural household by 2024.
