With just a day left for campaigning for the 1st phase Lok Sabha polls to end, electioneering has reached its peak in the Northeastern state of Meghalaya.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma assured the people to provide electricity to every house in the state for 24 hours in a day as he was greeted by a sea of supporters in Purno Nagar in Phulbari constituency on Monday, the constituency of NPP MLA and cabinet Minister AT Mondal.
Sangma, who was campaigning for NPP Tura candidate Agatha Sangma, said that the aim of his government was to provide electricity to every house in the state for 24 hours in a day.
Claiming it a record in the history, the Chief Minister stated that earlier governments used to provide around 25 thousands houses per year under PMAY. However, the present government is providing nearly 1.4 lakhs houses per year after AT Mondal won the seat.
Moreover, CM Sangma claimed that under the NPP government Meghalaya has attained peace and new phases of development and that is NPP’s greatest contribution for the plain belts as well for the Garo hills.
Sangma later wrote on social media that the show of strength and support by the people in the rally shows that the public has decided to exercise their franchise in favour of the NPP.
“The massive turnout at Purnonagar under the Phulbari constituency this evening is remarkable. Our family is deeply grateful to the people of this area for naming their village after my late father.
The overwhelming show of strength and support serves as testimony that the people have decided to exercise their franchise in favor of our party.” Sangma wrote on X.
Meghalaya will vote on April 19 in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections for the two LS seats – Shillong and Tura.
