Five IPS officers shortlisted for DGP Meghalaya

The Meghalaya Government has shortlisted the names of five IPS Officers for the appointment as the next Director-General of Police (DGP). They are Mukesh Agarwal, KV Singh Deo, L Ram

The Meghalaya Government has shortlisted the names of five IPS Officers for the appointment as the next Director-General of Police (DGP). They are Mukesh Agarwal, KV Singh Deo, L Ram Bishnoi, SN Singh and Idashisha Nongrang.

Except for Idashisha Nongrang, all the IPS officers are currently serving with the Assam Government.

Mukesh Agarwal, a cadre of 1989 batch currently serving as the Special DGP (Border), KV Singh Deo is a cadre of 1989 batch currently the Special DGP (Prosecution /BIEO), L Ram Bishnoi of 1991 batch, the Additional DGP (T&AP) and SN Singh of 1991 batch currently serving as the Special DGP.

Idashisha Nongrang, the junior-most among the shortlisted, on the other hand, is a cadre of the 1992 batch and was recently promoted as Special DGP Meghalaya.

It may be mentioned that the incumbent DGP, R Chandranathan, took charge in 2018 and is expected to retire on December 31 2021.
