With this, the DA and DR has increased from 36 per cent to 39 per cent

Good news for the government employees of Meghalaya. The state government has announced a big Christmas gift for them.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has announced a hike of 3 percent in Dearness Allowance (DA) and a similar hike in Dearness Relief (DR) for the 55,000 state government employees/pensioners and family pension holders. The hike will be effective from July 1, 2023.

With this, the DA and DR has increased from 36 per cent to 39 per cent.

Additionally, the government has also decided to release salaries for December early, said CM Sangma.

This increase is not only limited to regular state government employees but also to members of the work-charged establishment and casual workers, other then bungalow peons, holding posts in the pay levels as admissible to the employees of corresponding categories under the regular establishment/services/posts, a Meghalaya government release said.

A pensioner or family pensioner’s DR will be temporarily stopped if they choose to return to work for the State or Central Government, or if they choose a permanent employment in a company, corporation, or organization associated with the government. The suspension will be lifted upon the conclusion of such employment or re-employment, the release said.
