The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee too joined in the nation wide Bharat Bandh call and marched from Police Bazaar to Congress Bhawan.

Congress workers were seen shouting slogans against the rapid rise in fuel prices.

Former Chief Minister and leader of opposition Mukul Sangma lashed out at the BJP stating that the spirit of democracy was under threat under the current regime.

Meanwhile, AICC General Secretary in charge Northeast L Faleiro said that the current situation is not at all conducive and was in total contrast to what the BJP had promised before coming to power.

The affect of the bandh, however, was not felt beyond the area where the Comgress workers and leaders staged protest.
