Meghalaya: BSF foil smuggling attempt of clothes worth Rs 24 lakh

Acting on a specific tip-off, the Border Security Force (BSF) seized clothing items (sarees) worth more than Rs. 24 lahks from the adjacent area of East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, which were meant for smuggling into Bangladesh.
The operation was carried out by the 4th battalion of border security forces in the Pyrdwah area, according to the BSF. The clothing items (saris) were carried in two vehicles. When the BSF team intercepted the two vehicles, the drivers fled, leaving behind their vehicles near the village of Pyrdwah, which is close to the International Boundary.
The seized items have been handed over to customs in Pynursla. A Fir has been filed for further investigation and legal action.
