The BJP delegation led by state unit president Ernest Mawrie demanded the removal of West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner and SP to ensure a fair probe.
Meghalaya BJP leaders today met Governor Satya Pal Malik seeking an independent inquiry into the Tura Farmhouse raid case which led to the arrest and subsequent 8 days’ remand of State BJP vice president Bernard Marak.
The BJP delegation led by state unit president Ernest Mawrie demanded the removal of West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner and SP to ensure a fair probe.
Mawrie briefing newspersons said that his party is demanding the removal of West Garo hills DC and SP fearing that a free and fair probe into the case related to raids at Bernard Marak’s farmhouse will get influenced. The BJP is also demanding an independent inquiry into the matter.
Earlier on July 31, the BJP’s Tura district unit demanded the immediate removal of West Garo Hills SP and DC Tura to ensure a fair probe in the case.
Scores of BJP workers demonstrated outside the party office against the alleged inhuman treatment of the party’s state vice president Bernard Marak who is currently in 8-day police custody for allegedly running a prostitution racket at his farmhouse on the outskirts of Tura town.
The Tura BJP also sought the intervention of the Meghalaya Governor and the party’s central leadership in the situation.
It may be mentioned that the Meghalaya BJP had accused the Tura police of harassing party karyakartas terming the move as politically motivated.
