Students and professors of GMCH beat up the manager and staff of a bar in Guwahati probably over the bill amount

In an odd turn of events, a fight broke out between a group of 5-6 students and doctors of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and manager of a bar in Guwahati late last night.

The incident took place at a bar in Guwahati’s Christian Basti area.

As per inputs, the doctors and the group of students came to the bar at around 8 p.m. and were there until 11 p.m. Suddenly a fight broke out between the students, doctors and the staff of the bar possibly because of the bill. The fight turned bloody within minutes with the manager and few of the students suffering severe injuries.

The manager of the bar is currently undergoing treatment at GMCH.

“We have taken serious exception to the incident. According to our internal investigation, some doctors and students had gone to the bar and were reportedly involved in an ugly brawl. While they are alleged to have started the brawl, they were attacked later following which they were injured and had to be admitted to the hospital,” said Dr Achyut Baishya, Principal, GMCH.
