The total number of COVID-19 cases in Manipur crossed the 10,000 mark with 260 persons testing positive for coronavirus on Saturday, according to latest figures from state health department.

Total COVID-19 cases rose to 10,051, after 240 new cases from general population and 20 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were reported in the past 24 hours.

“In the past twenty-four hours, 240 persons (145M, 95F) from general population and 20 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases.,” the COVID-19 Common Control Room said in a release.

Among the general population, eight persons are returnees from other states while the rest 232 are locals without any significant travel history. They have been shifted to the Covid Care facilities.

Meanwhile, a 57-year-old female from Imphal East succumbed to the virus at RIMS. The cumulative number of death toll rose to 64.

On the other hand, 79 persons were discharged from various Covid Care facilities in the state after testing negative.

The total recoveries stands at 7,681, with a recovery rate of 76.42 percent, while the number of active cases has reached 2,306.
