Manipur Violence Spills Over to Assam, Clashes Outside Silchar Medical College Over Jiribam Killings

The tensions stem from an incident on November 11 in Jiribam, where armed miscreants attack targeted a relief camp, and security posts.
Tension escalated outside the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) on Wednesday as the bodies of ten armed men killed in CRPF firing on November 11 in Manipur’s Jiribam were brought in for post mortem.
The incident has sparked outrage among the attendants and relatives of the deceased, leading to violent clashes outside the hospital.
The unrest intensified when the agitated crowd, which included families and supporters of the deceased, began pelting stones and clashing with security personnel. Their primary demand was the immediate release of the bodies. During the chaos, a Northeast Live video journalist, who was covering the scene, was injured.
The tensions stem from an incident on November 11 in the Borobekra sub-division of Jiribam, where armed miscreants attack targeted a relief camp, and security posts.
In this attack, six individuals three women and three children were reportedly abducted by militants. Ten armed miscreants were killed during an exchange of fire with security forces on that same day .
