Manipur Police’s Crackdown On Extortionists: 5 Arrests In 48 Hours

As per reports, the arrested individuals have been involved in rampant extortion from different parts of the state.

Manipur Police has intensified its crackdown against those involved in extortion activities in different parts of the state and has arrested at least five individuals belonging to three different proscribed groups in the last 48 hours.

As per information shared by the Manipur Police, two active cadres of proscribed outfit KYKL were arrested from Keirak Khongnang Makhong in Kakching District.

The arrested individuals were involved in extortion from the public and government employees of the Kakching, Hiyanglam and Sekmaijin areas.

In a separate incident, security forces arrested one underground cadre of United Revolutionary Front (URF), from Salungpham bazar, Thoubal, on Monday.

He was allegedly involved in extortion and demanding money from Brick Farms, Schools, Colleges, Government employees, and the public of Thoubal District.

One pistol with a magazine and three live rounds, and extortion demand letters were recovered from the URF cadre’s possession.

In another operation on Sunday, Manipur Police arrested two active cadres of the proscribed outfit KYKL.
