Manipur police, in collaboration with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), conducted a joint operation in Phayeng, Imphal West, resulting in the arrest of three cadres from the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Peoples’ War Group) on Thursday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Laishram Kenjit Singh (36), Md Abdul Matalif (37), and Laishram Langamba Meitei (28).
Security personnel seized a country-made 9mm pistol with four live rounds from their possession.
Further searches at their hideouts in Kangchup led to the recovery of incriminating items, including a demand letter and a workshop for making illegal arms. The arrested individuals are suspected of involvement in extortion activities.
This follows a previous operation on December 4, where four other members of the same proscribed group were arrested in the Kakching district for extortion and illegal arms possession.
