Kamalbabu’s family and community have raised serious concerns over the incident, which occurred on November 25 under mysterious circumstances.

Family members allege negligence by the Army, citing official records that confirm Kamalbabu’s entry into the camp on the day of his disappearance. However, there is no corresponding record of his exit. “I was informed in the evening that my husband had gone missing. His phone was switched off. The Army must take full responsibility. He went missing inside their premises, and it is their duty to find him and ensure his safe return,” Belarani said.

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren also, stated that efforts to locate Kamalbabu are underway, with multiple agencies involved in the search operation. However, no concrete leads have been reported even after a week of his disappearance.
