The MLAs alleged that the state administration has failed to provide basic necessities, including healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
Ten MLAs from the Kuki-Zo community in Manipur, including seven members of the ruling BJP, have submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging swift political dialogue to resolve the ongoing ethnic strife in the state. The MLAs, citing growing discrimination against their community, have demanded a separate administration to safeguard their rights and ensure equitable development.
The memorandum highlights their concerns about the state government’s alleged neglect of the Kuki-Zo community, in the hill districts. The MLAs alleged that the state administration has failed to provide basic necessities, including healthcare, education, and infrastructure, to their people. They also alleged that the hill districts have been deliberately excluded from central funding for development projects.
The memorandum also included a request for an appointment with the Prime Minister to personally brief him on the dire situation faced by their community.
The Kuki-Zo legislators requested the Central Government to take a more direct role urgently in addressing these disparities. They proposed that funds for critical sectors, such as healthcare, education, roads, and water supply, be routed directly to the district authorities, based on recommendations from the elected representatives .
