Manipur Government has imposed an immediate ban on male vendors selling goods in and around Imphal’s Ima Kathel market. Ima Kathel is Asia’s largest marketplace exclusively for women in the state capital.
The government has imposed ban after the women’s wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System found eight non-local male vendors selling their goods at the bazaar without valid documents.
Minister of Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development, Thounaojam Shyamkumar said that strict action will be taken if any male vendor is found selling goods after the immediate ban.
