Manipur: Former BJP Vice President Salam Joy formally joins Congress

Ahead of the upcoming by-election, former BJP Vice President & Ex-MLA of Manipur, Salam Joy formally joined Congress Party on Wednesday at a function held in Congress Bhawan in Imphal.

Ahead of the upcoming by-election, former BJP Vice President & Ex-MLA of Manipur, Salam Joy formally joined Congress Party on Wednesday at a function held in Congress Bhawan in Imphal.

Former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, along with MPCC President Moirangthem Okendro and MPCC legislatures also took part in the joining function.

Ibobi welcomed the new development of inducting new member to the party. The former Chief Minister said that his party is ready to field candidates for all the vacant seats in the upcoming by-election but yet to determine the candidates.

Meanwhile, Salam Joy is expected to be an intending Congress candidate of Wangoi Assembly Constituency for the upcoming by-polls. The seat for Wanagoi AC became vacant after Congress MLA Oinam Lukhoi joined BJP and later resigned from his post as an elected member.

Six other intending candidates for Lilong Assembly Constituency also joined the Congress.
