One of the three bodies drowned at the Eco Park Lake in Manipur’s Ramrei village of Kamjong district has finally been retrieved.

The body has been identified as Nagakpam Rajiv, the eldest brother of the trio who belong to the same family, while bodies of the younger brother S Romen and their cousin sister N Rani are still missing.

It is noteworthy that after 3 days of rescue attempts being made by the NDRF, SDRF and state fire service teams, the induction of the 12 member Indian Navy team yesterday seems to have made all the difference as one of the bodies has been found within 30 hours of the Indian Navy joining in.

With rains playing a major deterrent in carrying out the rescue operations, it is the 5th consecutive day since the rescue operations began to trace the three persons drowned at the Eco Park Lake.

Divers of the NDRF, SDRF and Manipur Fire Service armed with sophisticated equipment have been vigorously trying to locate the bodies.

As many as 3 people- Sagakpam Rajiv, his brother S Romen and their cousin sister N Rani had gone missing after the boat they were sailing in capsized in the lake following a fierce cyclonic storm that hit the state on Sunday.

Search for the remaining two bodies still continues but with one body found, expectations now will be high that the other two retrievals are perhaps just a matter of time now.
