The All Tribal Students Union Manipur has demanded that the (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Councils Bill, 2021 be forwarded to the Governor instead of being referred to the Hills Areas

The All Tribal Students Union Manipur has demanded that the (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Councils Bill, 2021 be forwarded to the Governor instead of being referred to the Hills Areas development department.

Talking to Northeast Live, ATSUM president P Lupheng said that if the government wants to table the Bill than it must be referred to the Governor.

The ATSUM president also added that the apex tribal students body opposes the induction of 8 new MLAs into the Hill Areas Committee as per the order of the Assembly Speaker and demands that the order must be revoked at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the ATSUM has also welcomed the move of the newly inducted three Congress MLAs to withdraw from the Hill Areas committee
