With just one week left before the first phase of elections in Manipur, both BJP and Congress are set to bring in their bug guns for campaigning.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will land in Imphal on Tuesday to address a poll rally for BJP.

This has been confirmed by sources within the BJP to Northeast Live.

On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to hold a poll rally in Imphal a day prior on Monday.

As per sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Imphal on Tuesday for a day-long visit to Manipur.

The PM will be addressing a rally at Heingang in Imphal East, which is also the constituency of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. Meanwhile, BJP’s Manipur unit has gone into preparation mode for PM Modi’s mega rally in Imphal.

On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Manipur on a two-day election campaigning tour for the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.

Rahul Gandhi will be in Manipur on February 21 and 22 and will address multiple public meetings during the visit.

Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Manipur will be the first by any top national Congress leader to the state ahead of the Assembly elections.

Notably, Rahul Gandhi is among the 30 star campaigners, for the second phase of polling of Manipur elections.

Manipur will go for polls in two phases. The first phase will be held on February 28 and the second on March 5. 

The vote counting will take place on March 10.
