The National Peoples Party or the NPP has made a sensational allegation ahead of the Manipur assembly elections. In an official statement, the NPP has alleged party candidates are being intimidated and abused in a targeted manner by several rebel groups in different constituencies. The NPP in this regard has named KNF-MC, KNF-Z, UKLF, KNA and the HPC (D) who allegedly are working in favour of BJP and NPF candidates.

As per allegations, in the Tipaimukh seat, the cadres of militant outfits HPC (D) is moving around with arms intimidating the voters and village chiefs to vote for BJP candidates. Underground groups like KNA and UKLF under Suspension of Operation (SOO) are also allegedly threatening party workers and village chief to support BJP candidate Letpao Haokip in the Tengnoupal constituency.

At Tamenglong constituency, outfits under suspension of operations are allegedly campaigning strongly for NPF and BJP candidates. The outfit has warned our party workers with dire consequences.

The NPP has already raised the issue with the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur and Election Commission. The NPP said that the ongoing situation is an attempt to jeopardize the conduct of peaceful, free and fair election in Manipur.

The NPP has also demanded adequate security cover to its candidates, who are in fray from different seats.
