LS Polls 2024: Congress fields former CM and party president Nabam Tuki from Arunachal West, VP Bosiram Siram from Arunachal East

Nabam Tuki is likely to face a tough fight against Union Minister of Earth Sciences and BJP incumbent MP Kiren Rijiju
The Congress yesterday announced its candidates for both Parliamentary seats in Arunachal Pradesh–Arunachal Pradesh West and Arunachal Pradesh East for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress has announced former Chief Minister and state party president Nabam Tuki from the Arunachal West seat and vice-president Bosiram Siram from Arunachal Pradesh East.
Nabam Tuki is likely to face a tough fight against Union Minister of Earth Sciences and BJP incumbent MP Kiren Rijiju.
He is the sitting MLA from Sagalee legislative assembly constituency in Papumpare district.
Six-time MLA, Tuki was first elected to the assembly in 1995 from Sagalee and served as Deputy Agriculture Minister in the Gegong Apang-led Arunachal Pradesh government. He was also the Transport and Civil Aviation Minister in 1988.
In the 1999 assembly elections, he was re-elected from the same seat and became a cabinet minister with the Environment and Forest portfolio in the Mukut Mithi Ministry.
He was re-elected in the same seat again in 2004, 2009 and served as the PWD and Urban Development Minister under the Gegong Apang and Dorjee Khandu Ministries.
He served as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh from November 2011 to January 2016 and again for a brief period from July 2016 to September 2016.
Bosiram Siram is up against BJP state party president and sitting MP Tapir Gao in the Arunachal East seat. Siram is contesting the seat for another term.
He was elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly of Pasighat East constituency in 2004. He was re-elected in 2009 and served as Education Minister of Arunachal Pradesh from 2009 to 2014.
In the 2014 and 2019 assembly elections, he recontested but lost.
The Lok Sabha elections in the state will occur in a single phase on April 19 along with the assembly elections for 60 seats.
The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
