LS Polls 2024: Congress announces list of 12 candidates for Assam Lok Sabha seats

Sitting Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi will contest from Jorhat and veteran Assam Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi will contest from Nagaon for another term
Congress today announced its second list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The list includes the names of 12 Congress candidates from Assam. Sitting Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi will contest from Jorhat and veteran Assam Congress leader and sitting LS MP from Nagaon, Pradyut Bordoloi will contest from Nagaon for another term.
Pradyut Bordoloi is a three-time MLA from Margherita. He won the seat in 2001, 2006 and 2011. He won the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat on 2019.
Gaurav Gogoi, son of three time Assam Chief Minister and one of Assam Congress tallest leaders late Tarun Gogoi, been representing the Kaliabor Lok Sabha seat since 2014. This time, he is contesting from Jorhat as changes to constituencies happened following the delimitation exercise.
The list was shared by All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary KC Venugopal. Following are the names of the candidates and constituencies contesting from Assam:
- Jorhat: Gaurav Gogoi
- Nagaon: Pradyut Bordoloi
- Dhubri: Rakibul Hussain
- Darang–Udalguri: Madhab Rabanshi
- Gauhati: Meera Borthakur Goswami
- Kokrajhar: Garjan Mashhary
- Barpeta: Deep Bayan
- Diphu: Joyram Engleng
- Karimganj: Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury
- Silchar: Surjya Kanta Sarkar
- Kaziranga: Roselina Tirkey
- Sonitpur: Prem Lal Ganju


In Assam, Congress is contesting is contesting 13 of the 14 Lok Sabha seats. One seat – Dibrugarh, the party is leaving for its ally Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP). Party president Lurin Jyoti Gogoi is expected to contest from this seat. The congress has not yet name for Lakhimpur seat.
