LS Polls 2024: 6 candidates in the fray for Inner Manipur LS seat

The candidature of Ngasepam Nilakanta Singh, who filed his nomination from Universal Family Party, has been rejected after scrutiny.
Out of the seven candidates who had filed their nominations for the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha seat, candidature of one candidate has been rejected and nominations of 2 candidates who had filed papers on party tickets have been accepted as Independent candidates.
Papers of BJP candidate Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh, Congress candidate Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Maheshwar Thounaojam, who filed nomination from the Republican Party of India – Athawale (RPI – A) party were accepted.
Rajkumar Somendro Singh, popularly known as Kaiku, who filed his nomination papers on a Manipur People’s Party (MPP) ticket, was accepted as an Independent Candidate after scrutiny.
Similarly, for Moirangthem Totomshana Nongshaba, who filed his nomination papers from the Rashtriya Janhit Sangharsh Party (RJSP) party, his nomination too was accepted as an Independent Candidate, post scrutiny.
Candidature of Haorungbam Sarat Singh was accepted as an Independent candidate.
After the completion of the filing of nomination papers yesterday, the papers were taken up for scrutiny today by the Returning Officer, No. 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency at Lamphelpat. The scrutiny session commenced at 11 a.m. at the office of the RO was chaired by Shri Th Kirankumar, Returning Officer, No. 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
Candidates, election agents, proposers, General Observers and officials of the Imphal West DEO were present in the scrutiny.
The candidature of Ngasepam Nilakanta Singh, who filed his nomination from Universal Family Party, has been rejected after scrutiny.
Voting for Inner Manipur seat will be held on April 19 and counting of votes will take place on June 4. Thirty-two Assembly constituencies fall under the Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat.
