Lok Sabha Polls Phase 2: Voting for Tripura East seat tomorrow

13,95,089 voters expected to vote to decide the fate of 9 candidates in the fray
Voting for the Tripura East Lok Sabha seat of Tripura will take place tomorrow, April 26 in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024.
There are a total of 9 candidates in the fray. The key candidates who will fight for the seat are Tipra Motha’s Kriti Singh Deb Barma who is contesting as the BJP candidate and, INDIA bloc candidate Rajendra Reang.
Kriti Singh Deb Barma is the elder sister of TIPRA Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma and her key opponent Reang is a veteran CPM leader and 3-time (2003, 2008, 2013) Kanchanpur MLA.
There are 13,95,089 eligible voters of which 6,93,365 are female voter and there are 16 transgender voters. 1,664 polling stations have been set up for the voting.
The Tripura East seat comprises 30 Assembly segments including Ramchandraghat, Khowai, Asharambari, Kalyanpur-pramodenagar, Teliamura, Krishnapur, Hrishyamukh, Jolaibari, Manu, Sabroom, Ampinagar, Amarpur, Karbook, Raimavalley, Kamalpur, Surma, Ambassa, Karmachara, Chawamanu, Pabiachhara, Fatikroy, Chandipur, Kailashahar, Kadamtala-kurti, Bagbassa, Dharmanagar, Jubarajnagar, Panisagar, Pencharthal, Kanchanpur.
In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rebati Tripura of the BJP won the Tripura East constituency securing 4,82,126 votes while Pragya Deb Barma of the Congress polled 2,77,836 votes.
Rebati Tripura won the seat with a massive margin of 2,04,290 votes.
Tripura has two Lok Sabha seats – Tripura East and Tripura West. The Tripura West Lok Sabha seat went to polls in the first phase of voting on April 19 where the voter turnout till 9 pm was recorded at 80.17 per cent.
